Students will not only find out exactly where their skills, talents and passions lie in terms of their career, but they will also learn important social and personal development skills. Can anyone apply to be on the course?
Students for the "The Career Journey Course" can be anyone from ages 14 to 114!
The Gap Year Course - the full version and the Mini Version is only available to school leavers ages 18 (or turning 18 in year of course) to 22 years of age. Other than that it is open to anyone! We don't look at the student's marks, we are more interested in their passion, energy and motivation. This course is perfect for both introverted and extroverted people who think out of the box and dream of living a life of fun, adventure, financial security while helping the world!
How do I get onto the course?
An Info & Interview session is required for both the student wanting to attend and one or both parents/guardians. This 20-30 minute session over Zoom is for you and us to ask all the important questions to see if the course is the right fit for all parties involved. Once accepted into the course we will send you through a registration form which must be filled in and the deposit paid to secure the place. Please note: places on the course are limited and are based on a first come first serve basis, so book as early as possible. Email us at info@gapyearcourse.co.za to book your info session. Our info session times are 17h00 on weekdays.
Is there an age limit?
Applicants for the Mini Gap Year Course must be at least 18 years and over or turning 18 in the year the course applied for. There is a maximum age limit of 22 years old.
Students for "Find your Passion" can be anyone from ages 14 to 114!
Is the Course Online or In-Person?
It is both. The first week of the Mini Version of the course is live and in-person for the students to get to know each other in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The rest of the course is online sessions with a structured timetable each day.
Is there any particular Religion taught on the Course?
We don't adhere to any specific religion on the course, and are respectful and mindful of all faiths and beliefs. We welcome people of all races, backgrounds, cultures and sexuality. We advocate students understanding and appreciating all beliefs, faiths and different ways of thinking.
Do you Offer a Shorter Version of the Course?

We offer the special "Career Journey" online course for anyone from ages 14 to 114! So it's perfect for students, school leavers, people transitioning careers at any age and even retirees looking for a new hobby. Click Here to Email us for More Info on that!
We also offer special individual Career Coaching Sessions for students unable to take the full Gap Year experience to ensure they are pursuing the right career for them. These sessions are generally 2-3 hours in length and are online. Is the Course Certified?
We are an experiential course, but the students do get a certificate of completion at the end. If students have completed the relevant tasks of the course we also give a thorough recommendation reference detailing the student's personality, talents, skills and why they would be a valuable asset - This is included in the Full and Mini Gap Year Programme. The students can use the teachers/facilitators as references for their CV's. This reference letter is based on the student's performance whilst on the course. Experience is the thing most businesses are looking for when hiring, which is why it is so important for them to have it.
Who are the Teachers?
All our main facilitators are either qualified teachers or life coaches and will guide the students through the entire process every step of the way in a fun, compassionate and integrative way. Some of the career classes and tasks will be taught with industry experts in their fields and will help design and facilitate the allocated tasks given to the students on that particular field.
Is the Gap Year against college and university?
No, we are in fact very pro-college and university. We just want to make sure that the student is studying something that they are actually genuinely interested in and passionate about. Recent university stats have shown that there is a 60% drop-out rate for students in their first year, and mostly that is because they aren't ready for college, or they studied the wrong thing. We seek to alleviate those problems, but give them valuable skills they will not learn at school or university.
